Cao Dai Temple and Cu Chi Tunnels
Firstly, you will go straight to Tay Ninh, about 60 miles (100 km) North West of Saigon, to visit the Great Caodai Holy See, a place of pilgrimage for many of the South Vietnamese people who are followers of Caodaism.  Dao Cao Dai (Caodaism in English) is the third largest religion in Viet Nam (after Buddhism and Roman Catholicism). "Cao" means "high"; "Dai" means "palace". Caodai refers to the supreme palace where God reigns. The word is also used as God's symbolic name.  Caodaism is a syncretistic religion which combines elements from many of the world's main religions, including Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, as well as Geniism, an indigenous religion of Viet Nam.  Their main religious center is in Tay Ninh. They currently have 7 to 8 million followers in Viet Nam and about 30,000 members elsewhere, primarily in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States.  An interesting detour will take you to the traditional trade villages of rice paper making and brick producing. In time for its noontide prayer service, you will enjoy a peculiar solemn ceremony with followers attired in lively red, yellow, blue and white and will listen to accompanying religious hymns. This activity is followed is a delicious lunch in Tay Ninh. Then return to Ho Chi Minh City, with a stop at the "underground village" at Ben Duoc in Cu Chi district, which was used by the guerillas during the Vietnam War. Price: USD 43/pax Including air-con transfer, English speaking guide, admission and lunch.
