Cu Chi Tunnels |

Cao Dai Temple and
Cu Chi Tunnels |
Firstly, you will go straight to Tay Ninh, about 60 miles (100 km)
North West of Saigon, to visit the Great Caodai Holy See, a place of
pilgrimage for many of the South Vietnamese people who are followers
of Caodaism. Dao Cao Dai (Caodaism in English) is the third largest
religion in Viet Nam (after Buddhism and Roman Catholicism). "Cao"
means "high"; "Dai" means "palace". Caodai refers to the supreme
palace where God reigns. The word is also used as God's symbolic
name. Caodaism is a syncretistic religion which combines elements
from many of the world's main religions, including Buddhism,
Confucianism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, as
well as Geniism, an indigenous religion of Viet Nam. Their main
religious center is in Tay Ninh. They currently have 7 to 8 million
followers in Viet Nam and about 30,000 members elsewhere, primarily
in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States. An
interesting detour will take you to the traditional trade villages
of rice paper making and brick producing. In time for its noontide
prayer service, you will enjoy a peculiar solemn ceremony with
followers attired in lively red, yellow, blue and white and will
listen to accompanying religious hymns. This activity is followed is
a delicious lunch in Tay Ninh. Then return to Ho Chi Minh City, with
a stop at the "underground village" at Ben Duoc in Cu Chi district,

floating market - Mekong Delta |
Some 136 km from HCMC, Vinh Long occupies a core area of the
Mekong Delta. After two-hour drive, a boat takes you to the
Cai Be floating market with sellers and buyers bargaining
and exchanging goods from their boats. Following this is a
drive to the Binh Hoa Phuoc Islet where the maze of shady
creeks will surely fascinate you. You will have a chance to
linger amidst the local farmers, learn the secrets of their
bonsai gardening and look at the sample local products. When
approaching Vinh Long Town, you may also witness the Mekong
Delta’s economic upswing with the newly-built My Thuan
Bridge spanning the large Mekong River. This modern
architectural feat inspires locals and tourist alike with
its majestic span and modern design. A typical
Vietnamese lunch at a local home will be arranged.
